Today

Reading Tanno Setsu [丹野セツ] (1902-1987), someone who did not like her world, and gathered the strenght to change it. Living with her bare hands and not much else, she fled Imperial Japan's military and her own family likewise. Once imprisoned, she spent ten years fearing for her life everyday, as news from her youth friends' deaths kept coming. Thus she recalls a ghostly experience there:

A story like this may sound strange for someone like me, but on the night of the sixth when I was sitting in the detention cell with my legs stretched in front of me, a big black butterfly landed on my leg. There was no opening through which the butterfly could have come into the cell. There wasn't even a crack. It startled me, and I pulled up my legs. Then it dissapeared (...) There were several prostitutes in the cell with me. Seeing the black butterfly, they said ''That's really eerie. It's like the spirit of some person''. And that night I had a strange dream...
