Today

Today I thought of valiant and wise Sophia Magdalene Scholl (1921-1943), leader of the Weiße Rose and lover of all the little and silent aspects of Nature, executed by Nazi Germany at 21 years old. As she wrote to Fritz Hartnagel, November 10, 1940:

''And at bottom you're already half on my side, and you'll never feel entirely at ease there again. The battle I wage with myself will be yours as well: not to subside into a state of well-being, into the warmth of the herd, into philistinism''
